Overview
The KENWOOD Viking® VM6000 is a single-band P25 mobile for patrol cars, fire apparatus, EMS units and public works fleets. It runs P25 Phase 1 and 2 trunking and conventional, Viking16 and analog, with mixed-protocol zones, and works on Motorola ASTRO 25, L3Harris VIDA, Airbus VESTA, KENWOOD ATLAS and other standards-based P25 systems. A remote-mount RF deck with the large-display KCH-20 control head, optional dual heads or a handheld control head, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS and TrueVoice™ noise cancellation make it a straightforward, affordable P25 mobile. It can also be set up as a fixed control station.

VM6000, VM7000 or VM8000: which do I need?
The VM6000 is the straightforward single-band P25 mobile for most patrol and fleet vehicles. The VM7000 adds multiple decks to monitor up to four bands at once, plus high-power options. The VM8000 is multi-band from one deck with the newest features, including DMR, NXDN and Viking Connect.
Will it work on our county or state P25 system?
Yes. Kenwood lists the VM6000 as compatible with KENWOOD ATLAS, Motorola ASTRO 25, L3Harris VIDA, Airbus VESTA and other standards-based P25 Phase 1 and 2 systems. We will confirm compatibility and program it for your system.
Can it be used as a base or control station?
Yes. The VM6000 can be configured as a fixed control station, for example in a dispatch office, a fire station or an emergency operations center.
Does it work with our Motorola encryption and keyloader?
It supports AES-256 and DES-OFB, its ARC4 encryption is compatible with Motorola ADP, and it can be keyed with a Motorola KVL3000/KVL4000, the Viking VK5000 or over the air.
Can you install it?
Yes. Our upfitting shop installs the RF deck, control heads, antenna, speaker and power wiring, and programs the radio to your system.
